Preview of the Williamson County Case Study

New features and workflow help Williamson County create new business processes

Williamson County, Texas, through its Technology Services department, needed to rapidly adapt court operations when the COVID-19 pandemic hit to keep county offices functioning while protecting staff and the public. Working with Tyler Technologies, the county tackled challenges around in-person signatures, document routing, attorney access to files, and jury management.

The team rolled out electronic signatures, new Odyssey-based workflows and queues, an online clerk’s portal for attorneys, and a revamped jury process using online tools. The changes enabled multiple judicial areas to work remotely, automated manual tasks, let judges sign documents from anywhere, gave defense attorneys secure remote access to case files, cut jury management hours and costs, and delivered a juror system in five months—advancing the county to an Advanced Electronic environment.
