A Tyler Technologies Case Study
Irving Independent School District, a large Texas district serving more than 34,000 students across 36 schools, needed to move from Munis v7.5 to the new v9.1 Silverlight platform while also performing a complex server upgrade to Windows Server 2008 R2. The Business and Finance Office’s priorities were maintaining uninterrupted business processes, testing new technology, and ensuring end users could adopt the new system with minimal disruption.
Irving joined Tyler’s Munis Early Adoption program so Tyler staff could support both the software upgrade and infrastructure testing. The district deployed Role‑Tailored Dashboard templates, business intelligence cubes and central programs, migrated 400 users without resistance, and resumed smooth operations within a week. The result was faster reporting and better financial insight, broader user adoption (even principals approving requisitions), and valuable feedback that shaped subsequent Munis releases.
