A Tyler Technologies Case Study
The County of Maui Real Property Assessment Division, a long-time Tyler iasWorld client, faced the challenge of serving a population of 167,000—including many nonresidents—while reducing in-office visits and improving access to property data, forms, appeals and digital payments. The county wanted a single-vendor solution that would integrate assessment workflows with Treasury payment processing and make filing and appeals intuitive for constituents.
Working closely with Tyler, Maui implemented SmartFile for electronic filing and iasWorld Field Mobile for field appraisals, converting paper forms to digital, integrating online payments, and configuring role-based permissions. The result: 720 forms published electronically in 2019, an estimated 72 staff hours saved (and two reams of paper), roughly 10 fewer cashier hours per employee, fewer walk-ins and calls, improved data quality and security, and a more efficient, citizen-friendly workflow.
