Kankakee County Sheriff’s Office, which serves 114,000 residents across 681 square miles and 12 affiliated agencies in Illinois, faced an outdated legacy system that lacked automation, integration and field reporting. The limitations forced staff to duplicate data, rely on radio updates, and required officers to return to the station frequently, slowing responses and reducing officer safety; the county therefore sought Windows-based, fully integrated software with robust information sharing and cross-jurisdiction communication.

In 2004 the office implemented Tyler Technologies’ New World public safety suite—CAD, records, mobile, field reporting, corrections and fire—giving all agencies instant, interoperable access to shared data. The change reduced duplicate work, saved time in the office and field, improved interagency communication, and allowed officers to access and serve warrants in the field, speeding arrests and improving community safety.
