A Tyler Technologies Case Study
The Town of Amherst, Massachusetts—a 35,000‑resident local government with about 800 employees—faced pressures to become more sustainable, adopt new web‑based technology, and win administrator and end‑user buy‑in while upgrading its ERP. With a history as a long‑time Tyler Munis client, Amherst joined Tyler’s Munis Early Adopter Program to influence features and test new releases amid recent departmental restructuring and a database migration.
As an Early Adopter of Munis Version 9, Amherst moved to a Silverlight web client and implemented Role‑Tailored Dashboards, a GL Fund Monitor, enhanced workflow, Munis Employee and Citizen Self‑Service, TylerForms and Tyler Content Manager. The rollout was smooth and intuitive for users, cut paper/printing/storage costs, gave managers fast access to key data, allowed the town to shape product development, and boosted IT’s credibility—helping secure funding for additional projects.
