Implemented Paperless Processes Across All Case Types Using Odyssey

Tarrant County Justice of the Peace Court, Precinct 1 (Texas), faced a challenge: its existing process only allowed scanning and limited electronic handling for one case type (Eviction Suits), relying on paper files that were later shredded after verification. The court’s goal was to eliminate paper entirely and adopt a fully electronic case management workflow across all case types.

Working with Tyler Technologies to implement Odyssey, the court created a paperless, e-file-capable process—using five case flags to manage hearings and case status—and added a public self-service kiosk for e-filing, case review, and printing. The changes significantly reduced case preparation time, improved public access to justice, achieved an “All Electronic” E-Court Maturity status, and earned the Continuous Improvement award.
