A Tyler Technologies Case Study
Nova Scotia’s Property Valuation Services Corporation (PVSC), which manages nearly 600,000 property accounts, faced rising costs and low productivity from traditional field inspections that required travel, manual data entry and weather-dependent scheduling. PVSC needed a more regular, efficient way to review accounts and to uncover previously unassessed property improvements to increase assessment revenue.
By integrating Tyler’s iasWorld CAMA system with Pictometry aerial imagery for in‑office “desktop reviews,” six staff were able to virtually inspect properties, update records directly, and consult supervisors as needed. The change cut program costs by 50% (from $65,300 to $33,300), tripled inspections (2,680 → 8,580), updated nearly 5,000 accounts, reduced cost per account from over $24 to under $4, and added about $11.5M to eight municipalities’ assessment rolls—while improving accuracy and workflow.
