A Tyler Technologies Case Study

How one school district modernized and integrated its HR and finance processes to save time and money

Greeneville City Schools, a Tennessee district serving about 2,825 students with 560 employees, struggled with antiquated, DOS-based accounting and a patchwork of standalone, paper-driven systems. Central office staff had to visit school sites to assist with accounting, purchase orders and approvals were manual and halted when approvers were absent, and employees waited for paper paychecks, pay stubs and W-2s.

GCS implemented Tyler Technologies’ Munis ERP with on-site support from Tyler, consolidating finance and HR into a single integrated system and designating an in-house Munis administrator. The district now has a paperless PO approval workflow that lets leaders approve anywhere with one click, centralized access to school accounting, integrated hiring-to-payroll processes, widespread direct deposit and emailed W-2s (paper W-2s now used for only 9% of employees), and measurable time and cost savings redirected to classrooms.
