Case Study: Williamson County achieves automated quarter-payment setup and major time and cost savings with Tyler Technologies' Orion

A Tyler Technologies Case Study

Preview of the Williamson County Case Study

Enhancements Significantly Improve the Quarter Payment Plan Setup Process

Williamson County Tax Office in Texas (population ~456,000) faced a rising workload as a growing over‑65 population and 3,500+ quarter payment accounts dramatically increased seasonal processing demands. Manual quarter‑payment plan setup was time‑consuming—about 11 clicks and three minutes per account—consuming over 300 staff hours each tax season and limiting taxpayer service.

Tyler Technologies worked with the county to enhance its Orion Payment Import Module and integrate it with the county’s Remittance Processing System so eligible accounts are auto‑identified and plans are set up automatically. The enhancement fully automated the setup process, saved approximately $5,800 in year one, reduced seasonal staffing by one person, moved staff to customer‑facing roles, and cut setup time from three minutes per account to roughly one minute for 50 accounts.
