District Improves Budget Transparency with CellSense

Douglas County School District in the Carson Valley/Lake Tahoe region of Nevada—a small district of about 819 employees serving 5,500+ students—wanted to increase budget transparency but lacked the staff and funds to build a custom solution like larger districts. Leadership sought a cost-effective way to give the public clear access to how tax dollars are spent.

Using Tyler Technologies’ Infinite Visions and its CellSense reporting tool, the district mapped budget data to preformatted Excel templates and worked with IT to launch a budget transparency webpage in about a month. The site delivers up-to-date overviews, charts and detailed budget information after each budget approval, improving community access and engagement and achieving greater transparency without additional spending.
