BC Assessment, the provincial property assessment agency for British Columbia, faced rapid housing growth and mounting reassessment pressure without increased staff. The challenge was to reduce reassessment costs, boost productivity, and implement a standardized, jurisdiction‑wide reassessment cycle so properties weren’t left uninspected for years.

Partnering with Tyler Verify, BC Assessment launched a Desktop Review using street‑level imagery, sketch authoring and integration with its CAMA system so appraisers could complete reviews from the office. The program cut time per property from 27.4 to 8.86 minutes, delivered about 35% cost savings (a sample 23,000‑property jurisdiction showed roughly $314K net savings), improved uniformity across the roll, and captured non‑market changes such as home additions.
