A Tyler Technologies Case Study
Tyler Technologies worked with the Shawnee County Emergency Center (SCECC) and the Topeka Fire and Police departments when two routine, separate calls for service at the same apartment complex unexpectedly turned into two homicide scenes. Dispatchers and first responders needed a reliable way to connect and share mission-critical information across agencies and vehicles in real time to coordinate response and avoid radio congestion.
Using Tyler’s New World CAD and New World Mobile, the two calls were linked in the CAD and call narratives, status and locations were pushed to mobile data terminals in police, fire and EMS vehicles. The result was seamless, real-time interagency communication, faster and safer response with less radio traffic, and ultimately led to locating, arresting and securing a conviction of the suspect.
