A Tyler Technologies Case Study
Williamson County Tax Assessor/Collector’s Office in Georgetown, Texas—serving a population of about 525,000—faced mounting call-center demand as residents, banks, realtors and title companies regularly requested property tax estimates. Staff were spending roughly 10 minutes per residential request and 30+ minutes for multiple-property commercial requests, relying on manual calculations that were time-consuming and error-prone as the county grew.
Working with Tyler Technologies and its Orion software, the office launched an online property tax estimator that requires only an address entry; Orion auto-populates values and taxing entities, and users can adjust property value and select exemptions to instantly recalculate estimates. The tool reduced call volume and staff processing time, became widely used by commercial partners (one title company ran 500 properties), saved about $3,000 in five months with projected annual savings of $7,000, and improved overall efficiency and customer service.
