Kent Intermediate School District (KISD), an Educational Service Agency in Grand Rapids, Michigan serving 20 local public districts with about 1,000 employees and a $230M budget, adopted Tyler Technologies’ Munis to create operational efficiencies. Their main challenge was training all users, developing cross-module experts, and sharing Munis knowledge and best practices across local and statewide districts.

KISD assigned staff to master specific Munis modules, built a continuous improvement program and user-led trainings, and then offered shared business services—processing payroll for five districts and accounts payable for four—using Munis features like workflow approvals, Tyler Content Manager (TCM), imports/exports and personnel actions. The result: centralized, consistent processes, reduced paper and staffing needs, smoother audits, faster troubleshooting, and broader collaboration and knowledge transfer across the region and state.
