A Tyler Technologies Case Study
The City of Chaska, Minnesota (population ~27,800; 570 employees) faced operational strain in its Municipal Utilities Department, which serves about 12,000 customers monthly. Before 2013 the city struggled with inconsistent practices, over 20 different manual timecard formats, limited IT resources and on‑premises filing systems that led to downtime from server failures and delayed resident access to information.
In 2013 Chaska became the first Minnesota municipality to adopt Tyler’s cloud-based Enterprise ERP (with Content Manager, Time & Attendance and related modules), modernizing workflows with employee self‑service and online utility portals. The implementation reduced manual data entry, enabled secure online billing and cashiering, improved timekeeping and job costing, and minimized service disruptions—allowing the city to continue operations remotely during events like server outages and the COVID‑19 pandemic, while increasing overall efficiency and community satisfaction.
