The City of Newton, Kansas, a community of about 20,000, relied on Tyler Technologies’ Incode suite for day-to-day municipal operations. On December 7, 2016, all five of Newton’s critical servers and their backups failed unexpectedly, leaving the city without access to vital records and threatening service continuity.

Newton learned its contract included Tyler Disaster Recovery Services, which uses nightly off-site syncs to store live databases and can spin up recovery servers in a Tyler data center. Tyler provided an accessible platform for staff to keep working while Newton rebuilt its systems, then restored the final data to the new servers with minimal downtime—allowing the city to effectively resume operations where they left off.
