A Tyler Technologies Case Study
Tyler Disaster Recovery Services supported the City of Biloxi, MS, a long-time Tyler ERP customer on the Gulf Coast, when Hurricane Katrina (2005) devastated city facilities. The storm left the Information Systems office flooded with no power or usable infrastructure just days before payroll was due, making it impossible for the city to process critical payroll and financial transactions on its own.
Tyler had proactively reconstituted Biloxi’s database on its servers, declared disaster recovery, and ran the city’s payroll, working around bank processing issues by coordinating with the Federal Reserve and arranging delivery through a UPS store in Mobile. Tyler also printed additional checks, helped restore the local network and database, and processed follow-up payrolls—ensuring employees were paid on time, reducing operational burden during recovery, and validating the value of the disaster recovery service.
