California State Parks boosts access with Tyler Technologies, logging 700+ pass uses in 3 months

The customer, California State Parks, faced a challenge in increasing accessibility to its parks, particularly for residents from diverse urban backgrounds who lacked access to outdoor recreation. To address this equity issue, they partnered with vendor Tyler Technologies and utilized its outdoor recreation technology.

The solution involved Tyler Technologies providing a system to validate free park passes distributed through public libraries. This technology connected a barcode to the point-of-sale system, allowing for seamless entry and advanced tracking of usage. The results were significant, with the passes being used over 700 times at more than 40 different parks within the first three months. A survey found that 94% of pass users planned to visit the parks yearly. Tyler Technologies' solution provided California State Parks with valuable data to understand visitor journeys and tailor services.
