A Tyler Technologies Case Study
The City of Myrtle Beach, part of Horry County’s fast-growing Grand Strand region, needed a better way to measure new development for stormwater fee collection. Before using Tyler Technologies’ drone-enabled GIS workflow, impervious surfaces were only captured every three to four years, which meant newly built commercial properties could go unbilled for years and fees were often lost.
Tyler Technologies helped implement a drone-based process tied to final inspection requests, allowing the GIS team to capture impervious surface data as soon as projects were completed and fees to be assigned immediately. The result was faster fee collection and a projected $300,000 ROI over three years, while the same drone data also supported damage assessments, beach erosion analysis, and 3-D modeling for first responders.
