Buncombe County, NC, uses Tyler solutions for their Homeless Veterans Initiative

Buncombe County, NC’s Department of Veterans’ Benefits serves a large veteran population drawn to the Charles George VA Medical Center and faces a high rate of veteran homelessness, transient clients from across the country, and COVID-19–related service disruptions. The office needed a reliable way to identify, track, and report on homeless and at-risk veterans and the full range of services they receive.

The county configured Tyler Technologies’ Entellitrak-based Veterans’ Benefits case management solution to flag veterans needing housing intervention, document outreach and referrals (housing, health care, employment, substance-use and mental-health treatment), and generate reports for oversight. By automating administrative tasks and preserving complete interaction records during the pandemic, the system improved service-matching, freed VSOs to focus on relationship-building, and helped measure real progress getting veterans into stable housing.
