Browser-Based CAMA System Provides Access across 105 Kansas Counties

Tyler Technologies partnered with the Kansas Department of Revenue Property Valuation Division (PVD) to replace a 20-year-old CAMA system that no longer met the needs of 105 counties ranging from very small to large urban jurisdictions. KDOR needed a single, “one-size-fits-all” solution that could be supported centrally while still accommodating diverse county configurations and allowing the PVD to provide training, oversight and first-level support.

Tyler customized its Orion appraisal platform and helped build a state-hosted SaaS environment (nine hosted environments with 14 counties remaining local), then staged multi-year conversions with county data cleanup, testing and PVD-led training. The result: centralized, remote access to multiple county sites from a single location, faster and more accurate appraisals, easier data sharing with taxpayers and agencies, reduced hardware and IT costs, and measurable time and cost savings plus improved transparency and compliance statewide.
