The City of Auburn, Maine (285 employees, population ~23,200) had used Tyler Technologies’ Munis ERP since 2006 but wasn’t leveraging its full capabilities. Critical HR and payroll tasks still relied on paper signatures, manual scanning, and ad hoc reporting, which created delays, errors, and limited transparency until the finance director prioritized a citywide reassessment in 2017.
Auburn joined Tyler’s PACE program, worked with senior consultants to reconfigure Munis, and trained staff on new features to move processes paperless. The result: online timesheets and automated approvals, faster payroll processing, seamless remote work during COVID-19, automated document archiving and simpler audits — saving time and money and allowing HR to focus on more strategic work.
