Multinational business Lotte used Tyk to overcome technical constraints and improve its performance

Lotte, the South Korean conglomerate with more than 90 business units and 60,000 employees, needed to expand its open source-based environment while overcoming technical constraints on its e-commerce platform. It was looking for an API solution that could provide proxy gateway, authentication, monitoring, logging, and data caching capabilities, and it turned to Tyk after already using the product for its duty-free internet store.

Tyk was implemented to support Lotte’s microservices architecture, unify communication methods across APIs, and improve response performance through caching and related gateway features. The result was support for more than 1 billion calls per day and a 1.2 second response-time KPI for GET and POST queries, with improved reliability and performance on Lotte’s e-commerce platform.
