Modulr, a Payments as a Service API platform for digital businesses, needed an API gateway as it scaled and outgrew its home-grown security. Modulr chose Tyk’s full API Management platform in a hybrid model, with the Gateway hosted locally and Tyk handling key management through the admin portal. Tyk now sits in front of Modulr’s API, managing routing, keys, rate limiting, quota controls, and environment separation, while supporting a peak API traffic of 6,700,000 per week with negligible overhead and no added latency on key checks.
