A Tyk Case Study
Queensland University of Technology (QUT), a public research university in Brisbane, Australia, needed a way to manage a growing set of internal and public APIs across products from multiple vendors. As more APIs were created to connect applications and handle mobile use cases, the team spent increasing time on traffic monitoring, analytics, and authentication, and needed a simpler approach to API management. QUT turned to Tyk and its API management platform.
Tyk was up and running in a few days on QUT’s on-premises setup, giving the university centralized control over 32 APIs. The platform helped simplify authentication, analytics, rate limiting, access policies, load balancing, and developer portal management, while freeing the team to focus on larger technology projects. QUT’s APIs handled 571,000 average requests per day and reached a peak of 1,380,000 API transactions per day across 2 Tyk gateway nodes.
