Case Study: Bank of Central Asia achieves scalable, low-latency digital banking with Tyk API Management

A Tyk Case Study

Bank of Central Asia scales to 50 million daily API calls with Tyk

Bank of Central Asia (BCA), Indonesia's largest private bank, faced performance bottlenecks and latency issues with its internal API gateway as digital banking usage grew exponentially. The bank needed a scalable, high-performance solution to handle over 1.5 billion monthly transactions and support its 30 million users without downtime. BCA selected Tyk's self-managed API management platform for its cost-effectiveness, on-premises deployment capabilities, and micro-gateway architecture.

Tyk implemented a fully on-premises solution across two data centers using its Multi Data Center Bridge (MDCB) for centralized control. The migration resulted in zero downtime while scaling to handle over 50 million API calls daily and reduced latency for mobile banking transactions. Tyk's solution also improved monitoring and onboarding for 200 developers, with nearly 1,000 micro-apps now running through the platform.
