A Tyba Case Study
ERCOT, the Texas grid operator, faced the challenge of optimizing its battery energy storage assets to capture unpredictable and high-value price spikes in its real-time energy market following new market rules (RTC+B). Tyba Energy provided its optimization and bidding services to address this challenge.
Tyba's solution involved using strategic Price-Quantity (PQ) bidding to scale discharge with rising prices and carefully managing ancillary service offers to avoid conflicts. Tyba's optimizer forecasted high overnight prices, charged batteries during that period, and then discharged them at full capacity into a morning price peak. This strategic approach allowed Tyba to successfully capture the significant price volatility, maximizing energy arbitrage revenue for the assets.
