Case Study: Kooapps achieves simplified remote access and Zero Trust security with Twingate

A Twingate Case Study

Preview of the Kooapps Case Study

How Twingate helps Kooapps to create mobile games enjoyed by millions

Kooapps, a Seattle-based mobile game studio whose titles (like Pocket Family and Pictoword) have been downloaded hundreds of millions of times, needed to simplify and modernize remote access to on‑premises systems (source code repositories and build/render servers) after pandemic-driven remote work exposed friction from multiple self-hosted VPNs. To move to a more secure Zero Trust architecture with better usability, Kooapps evaluated and selected Twingate for remote access.

Twingate was rolled out after a proof-of-concept and replaced two VPN technologies, delivering a consistent mobile and desktop client experience, split‑tunnel “always‑on” connectivity, and an intuitive admin console that cut deployment and maintenance overhead. By using Twingate, Kooapps implemented least‑privilege access, enforced 2FA via Azure AD, hid network endpoints from the internet, and gained granular logging—improving developer productivity, simplifying administration, and strengthening security while keeping legacy VPNs as standby redundancy.
