Zocdoc adapts telehealth with Twilio-powered telehealth video solution

Zocdoc, a healthcare marketplace for patients and providers, needed to quickly add a seamless telehealth experience when the pandemic made in-person visits difficult. The company wanted a flexible solution that could support virtual appointments without disrupting its existing booking platform, and it chose Twilio’s Video API to help make that happen.

Twilio helped Zocdoc build and launch Zocdoc Video Service, a free, HIPAA-compliant telehealth solution, in just a few weeks. The impact was significant: Zocdoc went from 1% telehealth bookings to over 30% in the early pandemic, reaching 33% of all bookings in May 2020, while helping providers keep practices open and enabling patients to access care safely.
