Wunderman Buenos Aires was asked by Movistar, Latin America’s largest telecom, to deliver free concert tickets to loyal customers while preventing scalpers, bots, and ineligible users from claiming them. The promotion needed to verify three things at scale—that a user was a Movistar subscriber, registered in the Movistar app, and limited to one ticket per phone—across a potential pool of 100–200k users without creating friction.
Wunderman combined a proprietary backend session/token system with Twilio Verify for phone-based authentication, enabling a prototype in hours and full integration in 2–5 days. Twilio’s combined SMS and verification API reduced fraud (blocking bots and premium/toll-free numbers), supported multi-language flows, lowered costs versus competitors, and helped achieve over an 85% conversion rate on the ticketing flow.
