A Twilio Case Study
PixMob, a Montreal wearable innovator founded in 2010 and known for its Klik products used at events like the Super Bowl and Olympic Games, pivoted when COVID-19 shut down in-person events. With essential workers at high risk and manual contact tracing too slow and error-prone, PixMob spun out Safeteams to deliver automated, business-focused contact tracing using wearable badge clips and hubs—but needed fast cellular connectivity and developer tools to launch quickly.
Using Twilio IoT’s pay-as-you-go SIMs, APIs, and Console for rapid fulfillment, Safeteams connected clips → hubs → cloud and went from concept to deployment in weeks. The result: 10,000 devices rolled out across three continents within three months, remote hub management from Montreal, and four infections stopped—allowing targeted quarantines, faster decontamination, and safer workplaces without broad closures.
