The University of Michigan Department of Family Medicine needed a more flexible way to connect fellows and faculty across multiple time zones, including locations as far away as Japan and Qatar. Its old Verizon-based conference calling setup was hard to schedule, inflexible to changes, and often costly, making it difficult to support urgent collaboration. The department turned to Twilio Voice for a better conference-calling solution.
Twilio replaced the old system with a web-based calling line that staff could use on demand, making it easy to schedule or reschedule meetings and join from anywhere in the world. With Twilio, the department saved a few hundred dollars each month, eliminated missed conference-room costs, and gained five more conference times than before, along with about 100 hours saved per year in conference room use.
