A Twilio Case Study
The University of Michigan’s Center for Digital Curricula needed a way to help thousands of low-income K–5 students continue learning during the pandemic, when schools shifted from in-person instruction to at-home learning. Using Twilio and its Programmable Voice API, the center built the Collabrify Roadmaps Platform to support a more interactive, digital learning experience for students and teachers.
Twilio helped the University of Michigan embed voice calling directly into the platform, letting students join real-time discussions with a single click without needing a phone. The solution serves more than 4,000 students across Michigan, equipped about 200 teachers, and was implemented in just one day. The result was stronger student engagement, smoother collaboration, and easier teacher-led discussion and support.
