Twilio powers low-cost solution to connect migrant workers in singapore with their families

Call Home, a solution created to help migrant workers in Singapore stay connected with family during the pandemic, faced major challenges around cost, limited Wi‑Fi access, and difficulty using prepaid calling cards. To address this, Call Home partnered with Twilio to build a low-cost app that would let workers make reliable calls to landlines back home.

Twilio implemented Programmable Voice and Programmable SMS to power the app, with Twilio.org offering discounted rates. As a result, calling costs dropped by 40–55%, call quality improved, and workers could contact their families about 30 times more often—roughly 75–100 minutes per week instead of just 1–2 calls weekly before.
