OpenRent is a London‑based online rental marketplace that connects tenants and private landlords directly to remove letting‑agent middlemen. Faced with the need to handle very high volumes of viewing enquiries and keep communication fast and simple, the platform grew to 1 million registered users and regularly processes about 120,000 rental enquiries per month.
OpenRent implemented Twilio-powered SMS, Voice, Call Tracking and Twilio Client to send automated alerts, route calls and manage viewings by text or phone. The solution scales to roughly 200,000 SMS per month, has helped let 50,000 properties (850,000 tenant enquiries since launch), and delivers significant savings—on average £2,230 per let to landlords and £1,300 to tenants—while eliminating the need for large high‑street operations.
