A Twilio Case Study
Altibbi is the largest Arabic medical and health advice platform, delivering encyclopedic medical content and an on-demand telehealth subscription to a region with significant access barriers. Patients across the Middle East face limited specialist availability, cultural taboos and legal restrictions (for example, women in some places cannot see male doctors), so Altibbi set out to provide reliable, private, 24x7 medical advice and information to meet those needs.
Altibbi uses Twilio Masked Phone Numbers to dynamically and privately connect subscribers to a network of 100 on-call physicians across five countries, matching patients with local doctors and keeping both numbers anonymous so users feel safe—calls are typically connected in about 20 seconds. The service has grown to roughly 50,000 paying users, about 200 new subscribers per day, millions of app downloads, and provides call transcripts for follow-up; the company is expanding to more countries and exploring pharmacy partnerships to offer discounts and micro-insurance-like benefits.
