Benefits Data Trust (BDT) is a national nonprofit that helps people enroll in public benefits such as SNAP, but many eligible people never receive aid because the system is complex and hard to navigate. To reach more people in need, BDT used Twilio-powered phone, text, and mailing outreach to connect likely eligible recipients with its Benefits Center and guide them through applications.

With Twilio, BDT expanded SMS engagement and improved the efficiency of its outreach. Twilio’s Impact Fund grant helped BDT serve more beneficiaries, and last year BDT helped nearly 60,000 people access $145 million in benefits, while its overall work has delivered over $7 billion in benefits and services through more than 800,000 applications.
