Case Study: Lidl Achieves Rapid Smart Home IoT Product Development with Tuya Smart

Building a New IoT Retail Channel With Lower Prices, IoT-enabled Products, and Enhanced Experience

LIDL, the European supermarket chain, wanted to expand its smart home and IoT retail offering with simple, efficient solutions for lighting, electrical, sensors, and other basic devices. To support this, it worked with Tuya Smart and used Tuya’s intelligent IoT development platform, including Tuya’s Zigbee-based hardware and software core, to accelerate product development.

Tuya Smart implemented a Zigbee 3.0-based solution using ZS3L, ZS5, and ZS25 hardware along with Tuya IoTOS and the Zigbee application framework. The result was a faster launch of smart home products, successful Zigbee 3.0 certification, a growing smart product lineup sold across major malls in Europe and the US, and at least 100,000 consumers experiencing the products. Tuya Smart’s open API also enabled compatibility with Google Assistant and other mainstream ecosystems.
