Sprouts Farmers Market, a fast-growing grocery chain known for its sustainability focus, needed to keep HVAC systems running 24/7 to protect perishable inventory while cutting high energy costs. To explore a retrofit solution, Sprouts engaged Turntide Technologies and evaluated the Turntide Smart Motor System for its rooftop units.

Turntide Technologies retrofitted five RTUs at a 35,000 sq. ft. Sunnyvale pilot store, installing the Turntide Smart Motor System along with remote and energy monitoring kits and performing measurement & verification. The Turntide deployment reduced energy use by an average of 68.6% in 2019 and 75% overall (153,649 kWh), saved $18.4K with a 1.37-year payback, and cut emissions (equivalent to 12,253 gallons of gas / ~109 metric tons CO2), leading Sprouts to expand Turntide motors across multiple California locations.
