SUBWAY® Restaurants partnered with Turnstyle to transform basic in-store Wi‑Fi across participating Northern Ontario locations into a location-based marketing platform. The challenge was to better attract, retain, and reward customers—especially millennials—while gaining deeper insight into customer behavior and improving the in-store digital experience.
Turnstyle implemented branded Wi‑Fi login pages, opt-in marketing, and proximity campaigns that let Subway send targeted offers and automate rewards based on visit patterns. Across 54 stores in four months, more than 16,000 unique customers signed in over 35,000 times, coupon redemption hit 17% versus the 1–3% industry average, and opted-in customers returned 1.8x more often; customers who redeemed the first offer became 5.2x more loyal.
