Mem0, a company building universal memory infrastructure for AI agents, faced significant scaling challenges with their previous pgvector solution on Postgres. As their table grew to hundreds of millions of agent memories, they experienced high latency spikes and slow writes, making their multi-tenant platform unreliable. This prompted their search for a new database vendor, leading them to Turbopuffer.

Turbopuffer provided a solution with dedicated, physically isolated namespaces for each customer, index-aware attribute filtering, and hybrid search capabilities. By migrating over 400 million memories, Mem0 achieved a 70x reduction in end-to-end latency, with hybrid retrieval consistently under 100ms. The migration also drastically improved their Postgres performance, reducing INSERT operation times by 99x and enabling seamless scaling without any drop in recall.
