The Use of TurboCAD in Conceptual Design & Product Visualization

Kras.Design, a Netherlands-based full-service design studio run by Ralf and Simone Kras, needed to move from 2D AutoCAD workflows to a 3D CAD/CAM solution to support a new CNC machine and faster, more compelling concept visualizations. After evaluating options, the firm chose TurboCAD—deploying TurboCAD Pro Platinum along with the AnimationLab and TurboCAD CAM plug-ins—for its 3D modeling, CAM integration and animation capabilities at a more attractive price point.

Using TurboCAD, Kras.Design produced concept models, animated presentations and CNC-ready parts that accelerated client approvals and prototyping. TurboCAD helped win the Revvil fitness project (a 5 kg portable climbing device), enabled production of the first pre-production unit and a follow‑on order of 300 units, and supported multiple iterations over three years; demand eventually required outsourcing manufacturing. TurboCAD also shortened presentation turnaround to about a week, reduced design–prototype conflicts via integrated CAM, and drove increased orders for trailer and fitness designs.
