RMIT supports people affected by image-based abuse with Tundra and 1 in 5 insights

RMIT, a university, faced the challenge of addressing the common problem of image-based abuse. They sought to investigate how an AI-based technology could provide information, support, and advice to victim-survivors, bystanders, and perpetrators. To achieve this, they partnered with vendor Tundra to design and develop a specialized chatbot.

Tundra designed and developed the Umibot chatbot using Amazon Lex. The solution featured carefully mapped conversation flows for different user types, an empathetic and factual brand voice, safety mechanisms for vulnerable users, and an inclusive, accessible design. The chatbot successfully provides confidential support and essential resources, and it is currently being piloted in Australia with plans for future iteration.
