A Tugboat QA Case Study
The State of Georgia faced the challenge of migrating over 80 agency websites from an aging Drupal 7 platform to a new digital publishing platform, GovHub. This complex project required a solution that would allow a large, multi-vendor engineering team to develop and test in parallel without bottlenecks, while also enabling agency stakeholders to continuously review the migrations. Tugboat QA provided the staging and proofing environments necessary to facilitate this ambitious migration.
Tugboat QA implemented its on-demand staging environment solution, which used infrastructure-as-code to replicate Georgia's production setup. This provided the team with unlimited, automated previews for each pull request, breaking the bottleneck of limited testing servers. The solution allowed for automated migration runs, prepopulated databases for consistent data, and integrated accessibility testing. As a result, Tugboat QA dramatically increased the velocity and stability of the release process, enabling developers to set up local environments in hours instead of weeks and ensuring a successful, bug-free migration for all 80 sites.
