How the chemical giant Wacker supports its sales personnel with ‘information on demand’

Wacker Chemie AG, a global specialty-chemical group with over 13,500 employees, faced the challenge of keeping roughly 1,000 U.S. sales consultants and many new hires up to date on an extremely complex portfolio (about 3,000 silicone products). The sales force had relied on costly, hard-to-update laminated sample cases, so Wacker — which had been using tts’s tt performance suite since 2013 — partnered with vendor tts to move from analog aids and classroom training toward mobile Performance Support.

tts helped Wacker build MATE (Mobile Assistant Tool & E‑Learning), an HTML5, responsive, decision‑tree mobile solution based on the tt performance suite that uses pictograms and tap navigation to deliver product recommendations and one‑click technical data sheets at the point of sale. The pilot delivered rapid user adoption, centralized, easily updated content, new market opportunities and operational efficiency (from idea to implementation it took just four employees and tts), and supported Wacker’s broader training activity (the Wacker Academy trained ~8,500 customers/distributors in 2016) with plans for a global rollout.
