How EFI is Scaling Data Management Processes Using Technology

EFI (Equitable Food Initiative) is a nonprofit that certifies farms and trains agricultural workforces but faced scaling challenges: their certification and audit processes were managed in disparate Excel files across three certification bodies, creating heavy administrative burden for a small team of 14 (only three in certification). To move off spreadsheets and unify workflows, EFI chose Trustwell and its Connect platform to replace manual scheduling, audit reporting, and corrective‑action tracking.

Trustwell implemented an integrated platform combining audit management, scheduling, and corrective action workflows, bringing certification bodies and auditors onto a single system. The result was greater consistency, reduced administrative effort (EFI generates 40–50 audits per year), elimination of email-based tracking, and the platform serving as a de facto “fourth certification employee”; EFI expects more than 75 users across organizations to use Trustwell Connect.
