A Trustwave Case Study
Western Europe Major Airport, a critical hub handling roughly 400,000 annual takeoffs and about 30 million passengers, faced the challenge of keeping an extremely complex IT network operational at all times. Many systems relied on Active Content (JavaScript, ActiveX, applets) that could be exploited by sophisticated attacks, and the airport needed to protect data links used by Customs, Immigration and the Ministry of the Interior while applying different security policies for distinct user groups. Trustwave’s Secure Web Gateway was selected to address these risks.
Trustwave implemented its Secure Web Gateway, whose real‑time engine breaks down Active Content to determine intent and enforces flexible, group‑specific policies alongside a broader suite of protections. As a result, Trustwave has protected the airport from a wide range of web threats for 15 years without causing downtime to its critical systems, helping safeguard passenger operations and sensitive government data transfers.
