Leading Health Care System, a network of 14 hospitals, 36 minor‑injury units, nearly 500 general practices, more than 700 pharmacies and 65,000 providers, faced a major challenge securing routine clinical collaboration by email. They needed a solution that would block spam and malware, identify and protect diverse forms of patient data with precise, customizable rules, and still allow clinicians to override protections in emergencies. To meet those needs they engaged Trustwave and deployed Trustwave Secure Email Gateway (SEG).

Trustwave implemented SEG to control malware and spam and layered real‑time data loss prevention rules that scan more than four million emails sent and received each month, while giving individual hospitals configurable autonomy and emergency override options.
