How Curtin University Partnered with Trustwave for Complete Cyber Insight and Response

Curtin University, a leading public university in Perth with more than 57,000 students and almost 4,000 staff, sought to strengthen its cyber resilience by increasing visibility into suspicious activity and making better use of internal resources to detect and respond to incidents. To achieve this, Curtin partnered with Trustwave and selected Trustwave’s Managed Detection and Response (MDR) service to augment threat intelligence, build security capability, and support mutually beneficial commercial and academic outcomes.

Trustwave implemented 24/7 monitoring, co‑managed Curtin’s SIEM across cloud and on‑premise environments, optimised vulnerability management, provided on‑site named specialists (including an Information Security Specialist and Advisor), and put a DFIR retainer backed by the SpiderLabs team in place. The engagement — supported by the Trustwave Fusion dashboard integrated with Curtin’s SIEM and ticketing — delivered end‑to‑end visibility, expanded endpoint protection coverage, accelerated incident response, and enabled accurate KPI measurement and a real‑time snapshot of security health.
