Thrift Books doubles revenue Take a page from their book

Thrift Books, the nation’s largest used bookseller founded in 2003, was growing quickly but saw prospects increasingly question its reputation before buying. To lower acquisition costs and boost revenue and satisfaction, the company set out to leverage customer reviews as a trust signal and measure success by CAC, revenue, and customer satisfaction.

By partnering with Trustpilot to publish all authentic reviews, Thrift Books rapidly collected 18,000 reviews (95% rated 4–5 stars) and embedded that social proof into paid search, SEO, and its site. After launching the review program traffic rose 125% (building on an earlier 60% gain from SEO/ads) and revenue jumped 180% year over year; review analytics also sped issue resolution, consolidated customer feedback for business improvement, and boosted employee morale.
